Michael Van Hoesen
- about me -
My name is Michael Van Hoesen. I am originally from Tucson, Arizona where I still live and operate MV Computer Help, a Tucson Arizona based computer repair, help, and consulting business.
I first started working with computers when I was twelve years old. The first computer I fixed for someone else belonged to the Jr. High School that I attended at the time. The computer, an Apple IIe, was State of the art at the time and I was trusted to install a memory upgrade. That is a lot of responsibility for someone who is only fourteen years of age. It was at that point that I realized that I was going to learn how to fix computers as a career.
In High School I took a few computer classes offered and in the evening I took a few classes offered at the local Community College. After High School I joined the Army where I spent Four years working as a computer Systems Administrator (1994-1998).
While in the Army I was stationed at Fort Story (Virginia Beach), Virginia. In the Army I went on went on several overseas deployments: Saudi Arabia, Korea, Haiti, and Cuba to name a few. I also went on several trips to locations in the United States.
When I got out of the Army in 1998, I stayed in the Virginia Beach area and took a job at Canon, Inc. (the printer and camera company). Throughout my career, I have worked for two large corporations - Canon, Inc. and Intuit, Inc. At Canon I was a printer technician. I also did a lot of work with flatbed scanners. In 1999 I left Canon after being offered a position working at Intuit, supporting QuickBooks.
At Intuit, I spent seven years supporting QuickBooks at all various levels. I started out as a Level 1 Support Agent. If you were to call QuickBooks support for assistance, you would be speaking with a Level 1 Support Agent. As a Level 1 support agent, I spent 8 hours a day helping customers with all aspects of QuickBooks. In 2001 I became a Level 2 support agent; a capacity in which I helped Level 1 agents needing guidance or input on support calls. In 2005 I became a Level III technician. I served in that capacity for about a year before leaving Intuit and starting my own business, MV Computer Help.
MV Computer Help is an LLC licensed for business by the City of Tucson and registered with the Arizona Secretary of State.
Over the years I have continued building, maintaining, and supporting computers and software. I have taken a many computer-related classes and I have obtained several industry and Microsoft certifications. I enjoy higher learning and I enjoy obtaining certifications, but neither can substitute for actually doing hands-on support and repair.
Starting my own small business has given me a new respect for small business owners. I approach each customer with the same service that I expect when I am on the customer side of the table. As the sole proprietor of my company, I have a vested interest in taking care of my clients and building lasting business relationships. I know that if I do not take care of the customer, someone else will.
Thank You for visiting my website and considering my services!
